NOTES:


  • Was inspired to begin sport after seeing the 2006 Winter Olympics and watching Jeret “Speedy” Peterson via a suggestion from her mom to check it out
  • Growing up in the DC area, she skied at all the local MD, VA, PA local mountains with her family on vacation and additionally was a gymnast (both of these skills are used in the sport)
  • Moved to Lake Placid - Olympic Training Center at age 14 after impressing USSA coaches at an open try out, her coach from 14-17 was 2014 Russian Olympic freestyle aerials coach Dmitiriy Kavunov (he was with the US program during her development)
  • Graduated high school at 15 with GED
  • Youngest Olympian on US team at 16 in Vancouver
  • Won FIS Freestyle Aerials World Cup event at age 17 in Lake Placid, NY
  • Tore her left ACL and subsequent season tore her right ACL during 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons at Utah Olympic Park in Park City, UT during pre-season training
  • Graduated college at 20 via online education program at State University of New York, Empire State campus with a 4.0 average
  • Won Silver medal in her first event back after 2 seasons in Beida Lake, China in December 2013

  • Currently lives and trains out of Park City, UT where the US Ski Team headquarters is located.  Has had a billet family in Paul and Barbara Schwartz whom resided in the Potomac, MD region for 15 years.  She lives in the Solamere section of Deer Valley.

  • Planning to get her MBA prior to 2018 Olympic Games
  • Competed in the Washington area NFL competition, Punt, Pass and Kick (was honored at FedEx Field)
  • Ashley is the only US female athlete that can land triples in competition
  • Won US National Championship in Deer Valley in April 2014
  • Won Deer Valley World Cup in January 2015
