Ms. Apps, a 3-time Olympian retired from Hockey Canada in the Spring of 2015. She competed on the Canadian Olympic Team at Torino 2006, Vancouver 2010 and Sochi 2014.
During her international career representing Team Canada, she won 3 Olympic Gold medals, 3 IIHF Women's World Championships and 5 IIHF Women's World Championship Silver medals. She also won 8 Four Nations Cup titles. At the 2006 Olympic Winter Games, she was named to the Media All Star Team. In 164 games played for Hockey Canada, she finished with 50 Goals and 50 assists.
Gillian is a graduate of Dartmouth College in Psychology and Brain Science. In 2017-18 she returned to Dartmouth to earn her MBA and graduated in the Summer of 2019. As a student-athlete she earned NCAA Second Team All-American honors and was the ECAC Player of the Year.
Professionally, Gillian played for the Brampton Thunder where she won 2 Clarkson Cup Championships in the Canadian Women’s Hockey League.
Upon her retirement from Hockey Canada, she has been an assistant coach at the NCAA level with SUNY-Canton and Boston College.
Gillian is a third generation elite hockey player in the Apps family. Her grandfather is a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame and Stanley Cup Champion, her father played in the National Hockey League and a NHL All Star Game.
Off the ice, she has completed his first triathlon at the Muskoka Ironman competition.
Today, Gillian and her wife, Meghan live in Stamford, CT. Gillian works for a financial services company in the area.
