JULIE CHU NAMED US OLYMPIC TEAM FLAG BEARER OF SOCHI WINTER OLYMPIC GAMES Closing ceremonies

Sochi, Russia - February 2014

Four-time Olympian, Julie Chu was named by the athletes of the United States Olympic Team as the flag bearer of the 2014 Closing Ceremonies.  Chu, a native of Fairfield, CT and 3x Olympic Silver and Bronze medalist was informed of this the day after the United States heartbreaking 3-2 overtime loss to Canada in the Gold medal match.

STEVEN HOLCOMB CAREER WORLD CUP MEDALS TO DATE

FIBT/ISBF World Cup Medal Count through 2013-14 season

Munich, Germany – January 27, 2014 – 

Steven Holcomb won the first 7 events during the FIBT / ISBF World Cup season 2013-14 season in North America and concluded it by winning Gold in 2-man / Silver in 4-man in Igls, Austria and Gold in Konigssee, Germany in 4-man.

In his career, here is the individual breakdown:

2006-07 (2 Gold, 3 Silver) - 2man / (3 Gold, 2 Silver) - 4man   [10 medals]

2007-08 (1 Gold, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze) - 2man / (2 Gold, 2 Silver) - 4man   [7 medals]

2008-09 (1 Silver, 1 Bronze) - 2man / (2 Gold, 2 Silver, 1 Bronze) - 4man   [7 medals]

2009-10 (1 Silver, 1 Bronze) - 2man / (3 Gold, 2 Silver) - 4man   [7 medals]

2010-11 (2 Gold, 1 Bronze) - 4man   [3 medals]

2011-12 (1 Silver, 1 Bronze) - 2man / (Silver) - 4man   [3 medals]

2012-13 (3 Gold, 1 Bronze) - 2man / (2 Silver) - 4man   [6 medals]

2013-14 (5 Gold) - 2man / (4 Gold , Silver) - 4man   [10 medals]

Additionally, Steven has won 5 FIBT/ISBF World Championships in 2man (2012), 4man (2009 and 2012) and Mixed Team (2012 and 2013), 5 World Championship Bronze medals in 2man (2009), 4man (2011 and 2013) and Mixed Team (2008 and 2009).

Steven also holds 6 FIBT/ISBF Overall World Cup Season Championships in 2man (2006-07 and 2013-14), 4man (2009-10) and Combined (2006-07, 2009-10 and 2013-14).  He has 9 Overall and Combined FIBT/ISBF World Cup Season Medals.

STEVEN HOLCOMB WINS ISBF/FIBT 2013-14 COMBINED WORLD CUP TITLE

Holcomb wins combined title for the 3rd time in bobsled career

Koniggsee, Germany – January 26, 2014 – 

Steven Holcomb, driver of the USA 1 bobsled team won his 3rd, ISBF/FIBT Combined World Cup title after racing this weekend.   The title, his first since the 2009-10 pre-Olympic campaign saw Holcomb win 8 Golds and a Silver in 2 and 4-man bobsled this season.  Steven was selected to his 3rd Olympic Team on January 19, 2014.

Holcomb’s 2-man team used 2012 World Champion push athlete Steven Langton and Christopher Fogt through the first 7 races alternating and Curt Tomasevicz in race 8.

In Holcomb’s career to date, he has won:

  • 2010 Olympic Gold Medal (4-man)
  • 5x ISBF / FIBT World Champion (2-man 2012), 2x (4-man 2009 & 2012 ) and 2x (mixed team 2012 & 2013)
  • 5x ISBF / FIBT Overall World Cup Season Champion (2-man 2006-07), (4-man 2009-10) and 3x Combined (2006-07, 2009-10 & 2013-14)
  • 5x ISBF / FIBT World Championship Bronze Medalist (2-man 2009), (4-man 2011 & 2013) and (mixed team 2008 & 2009)
  • 9x Overall & Combined ISBF/FIBT World Cup Season Medalist
