3 year extension - MADDIE ROONEY

3 year extension - MADDIE ROONEY

We are so proud of this deal that Maddie Rooney got to stay in the STATE OF HOCKEY where she is a native of in Andover.

Maddie’s professional journey has had its twists and turns to it which has been unforeseen at times like watching 15 rounds of the initial PWHL Draft happen in 2023 and not see her name called out and then she was able to pick PWHL Minnesota as the training camp she would want to win a job at which she did and then signed a 2-year agreement with the club.

During her initial 2 years, Maddie has been spectacular and though she seems to be an afterthought by those that vote on things like Awards and All Star Game opportunities, she has quietly put together the things that you want out of your individual career like having the 3rd best goals against average in PWHL history in the regular season (in 24-25 she was 2nd in GAA) and the best winning record in playoff history at 8-2. In this year’s playoff run, she went 5-0 beating the Playoff MVP, three straight games in overtime. At the same time, in the initial two playoff years she has been the #1 star in 3 of 4 opportunities when it REALLY MATTERS.

2x WALTER CUP CHAMPION, 2x IIHF WOMEN’S WORLD CHAMPION and 2018 OLYMPIC CHAMPION. Winners win, and for the next 3 years you get to continue in the Twin Cities looking for banner number 3.
